PHP 5 / MySQL 5 Server Upgrade Scheduled: October 1st, 2008
Please Verify Compatibility
For the past few months Hands-on Web Hosting has been announcing the removal of the PHP4, MySQL4 and Apache 1.3.x versions due to the software no longer being updated. These softwares have all reached End of Life status and have become increasingly more vulnerable to the stability of the servers. At this time PCI Compliance Companies are now revoking PCI certificates to any servers operating these expired software versions.
More details regarding the software version End Of Life (EOL) can be found here:
PHP4 EOL - http://www.php.net/archive/2007.php

It is very important for you to check your site to be certain every script you're using (carts, blogs, forums, etc) is running at a version that's compatible with both MySQL 5 and PHP 5, and apply any required updates and patches PRIOR to the move.
If you are running any X-Cart Gold Software with version 4.0.x, we recommend upgrading to the latest 4.1.x version if possible, or at least applying the available patch to prevent the database from crashing. The patch can be obtained from the X-Cart Forums. If you do not have the time or lack the skills to apply the necessary patch we have worked out a deal with http://www.netvisionweb.com who will apply the patch for you at a discounted rate through http://www.netvisionweb.com/articles/xc ... pecial.php
To obtain the special coupon code, please review the announcement emails that we have sent out, or contact our support department.
If your sites are not version 5 compatible and you are unable to update the scripts prior to October 1st, your software will stop working when the software versions change. The only solution that we have in place for instances such as these would be the purchase of a dedicated server where we can load the older software versions. Please note that this would be a temporary solution and your site will be vulnerable to hackers as software can not be updated. Please see http://www.handsondedicated.com for dedicated server prices.
If you have any other questions, please let us know in a ticket or support chat.
